BaseballTwelve innings from the exit door: Rays stun Brewers 4-3 to stay alive
Tampa Bay's first World Series win cuts Milwaukee's lead to 3-1 after a marathon at the Trop.
Milwaukee closes out Tampa Bay 4-1 at the Trop to claim the franchise's first championship.
The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history, sealing it with a 4-1 win over the Rays at Tropicana Field that wrapped the series in five games.
Catcher William Contreras took the series MVP honours, hitting .381 with an .864 OPS, four runs driven in and even a stolen base. Across the whole run he batted .383, while Jackson Chourio chipped in nine RBIs.
It completed a postseason in which Milwaukee repeatedly found answers: a comeback from a 4-0 first-inning hole, a 10-1 blowout behind Robert Gasser's six scoreless frames, and only one stumble — a 12-inning loss in Game 4. The Rays' late push merely delayed a coronation 58 years in the making for a club that had never lifted the trophy.
