Krutwig's 27 points can't buy a 9.6 from us — Chemnitz steal the grades

Our index cools the hype on both sides of a one-point thriller, and the biggest disagreement stars a guard with one point.

Pred1x grades

Our index opens with a shrug at the box office: Cameron Krutwig's 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists lead the grades at 7.1, yet the reference rating hands him a 9.6. We're not buying the full two-and-a-half point premium — his scoring component sits at just 0.6 and his defense registered 0.0, so the highlight line earns strong, not historic.

That's not even our biggest disagreement. INDEX-STAT: Cedric Paul Anderson Jr. (G, Phoenix Hagen): Pred1x Grade 3.4 vs reference 6.2 (Δ+2.8). One point in 7.1 minutes, a raw production score of 0.06 — no model that weights minutes and output can stretch that to 6.2.

Chemnitz won 94-93, but the home grades run cool too: Phlandrous Fleming's 21 points and 6 assists land at 6.8 against a reference 8.7, Cobe Williams drops from 7.6 to 5.5 with zero rebounds, and Elias Rodl's scoreless 8.8 minutes read 3.3, not 5.8. When a game is decided by one point, our index says the margins — not the reputations — did the deciding.
