AI SPORTSANALYTICSDmitri Simashev scored twice, the last at minute 62, as Utah erased a two-goal deficit at Delta Center.

Nine goals at Delta Center, and the one that decided everything arrived at minute 62. Dmitri Simashev's second of the night, two goals on three shots for the defenseman, ended overtime and sealed a 5-4 Utah Mammoth win over Tampa Bay Lightning after the home side had trailed by two.
The first period alone produced five goals and four penalties. Jake Guentzel opened for Tampa Bay at minute 6, Kailer Yamamoto answered two minutes later, then Pontus Holmberg (from Ryan McDonagh) and Brayden Point (from Nikita Kucherov) put the Lightning up 1-3 inside 13 minutes. Jeffrey Viel, Jack McBain, Clayton Keller and Emil Lilleberg all visited the box before Dylan Guenther, fed by Clayton Keller, trimmed it to 2-3 at the break.
Conor Geekie, assisted by Scott Sabourin, restored the two-goal cushion at minute 26, and Nikita Kucherov, Point's helper earlier, took a seat in the box at 33. Then Utah moved: Anders Lee at 35 off MacKenzie Weegar, and Simashev at 38 off Vincent Trocheck tied it at 4-4. A goalless third period followed, with matching penalties at minute 56, and Karel Vejmelka finished with 29 saves.
Overtime needed exactly one goal. Barrett Hayton supplied the pass, Simashev supplied the finish, and Utah had its 5-4 win after overtime. The defenseman's line: two goals, a plus-2, no penalty minutes. Vincent Trocheck added two assists, Guenther finished with three shots and a minus-1 despite his goal, and Dennis Hildeby's 23 saves went unrewarded at the other end. Each power play converted once in three chances.
Tampa Bay outshot Utah 32-28 and left Salt Lake City with nothing to show for it. The Lightning won the shot count; the Mammoth won the night.
