AI SPORTSANALYTICSLogan Day set up all three Barys goals in regulation, Andrei Shutov stopped 41 shots, and the visitors left Moscow with a 4-3 win after overtime.

Forty-four shots. Sixty-two percent of the puck. A power-play goal on the board. And still Spartak Moscow walked off the Megasport Arena ice beaten, 3-4 after overtime, by a Barys Astana side that spent the evening defending its own net.
The first period produced nothing but penalties — four two-minute minors, two apiece, and zero goals. Tyce Thompson and Kirill Savitsky sat for Barys, Daniil Gutik and Ivan Ryabov for Spartak. The dam broke in the second. Daniil Gutik opened at minute 28, assisted by Ilya Kotlyarov, and the lead lasted three minutes. Alikhan Omirbekov tied it at 31, Logan Day with the first of his three assists, and Alikhan Asetov put Barys ahead at 35 off Day's feed again. Danil Pivchulin answered unassisted at 37 to send the teams in level at 2-2.
Spartak nudged ahead at 49 through Lukas Lockhart, set up by Sergei Lukyantsev, and with the shot count climbing the third goal looked like the winner. Instead Tyce Thompson levelled at 59 — Day's third assist of the night — and Chase Priskie's minor at 40 proved the last trip to the box all evening. The extra frame settled it Barys' way: 4-3 after overtime.
The decisive actor wore a Barys jersey and never scored. Logan Day, a defenceman, assisted on all three regulation goals, finished plus-3 with 5 shots and zero penalty minutes. Behind him, Andrei Shutov made 41 saves, absorbing everything Spartak threw; Artyom Zagidulin needed only 27 stops at the other end.
Spartak's power play converted once in five tries; Barys went 0-for-2 and still won. Dominance without reward is the coldest stat in hockey.
