Milwaukee turns a historic 103-59 season into its first World Series crown, closing out Tampa Bay in five.
A 103-win season has ended the only way it could: with champagne on the road and a first championship for Milwaukee. The Brewers beat Tampa Bay 4-1 at Tropicana Field to take the World Series 4-1, closing out the Rays in front of their own crowd.
The numbers border on absurd: 103-59 in the regular season, then 11-2 in October. Tampa Bay's 4-3, 12-inning salvage of Game 4 was the lone blemish — the only contest in the series Milwaukee didn't control.
Catcher William Contreras took the MVP honours, batting .381 with an .864 OPS, driving in four and even swiping a base. Across the whole run, Jackson Chourio collected nine RBIs as a young core delivered its first ring.
